Ilminster Town Reserves have appointed Andrew Male as Caretaker Manager until then end of the 2017/18 season.

Following the resignation of Reserve team manager James Govier on Monday 2nd October 2017, the club are pleased to announce the appointment of Andrew Male as caretaker manager until the end of the 2017/18 season.

Andrew brings a lot of experience of local football having played at Dowlish & Donyatt, Fivehead, Combe St Nicholas, South Petherton, Halstock and Merriott.

Andrew has also experienced management, having reformed Fivehead FC a few years back, he was responsible for getting the side into the Taunton league and oversaw their first season, as well as their transition into the Perry Street League, this role extended far beyond the role of manager and we believe this experience will be a great asset for his time with the club.

In terms of Ilminster Town FC, Andrew came up through the youth system and has gone on to represent all 4 of the men's sides over several seasons, he has a good knowledge of the club, and existing relationships with a number of the players.

As part of his new role, Andrew is keen to bring in new faces to replenish and freshen up the reserves side, and therefore anyone that would be interested in joining the reserves is encouraged to contact the club.

The reserves play in Division 5 of the Devon & Exeter Football League, and they currently sit in 6th place after 5 games, with 2 wins, 2 draws and a single loss. This Saturday they face bottom of the table Offwell Rangers FC 1st in a home game with a 3pm kick off.

The club would like to wish Andrew every success for the coming season, and would also like to thank James Govier for his work last season in securing the Division 7 title, and with it a double promotion to Division 5.

Any players looking to potentially join the reserves should contact the club via the website, or alternatively via our Facebook page.
