Reserves Maintain Title Ambitions

It was make or break for the boys in blue today with a win needed from both sides to really bolster both teams bid for the league title.
Ilminster welcomed new goal keeper Barry Seymour to the club.

Having been well defeated by Cranbrook in the previous meeting it was Ilminster who started the game the brighter and started to dominate possession creating chances and looking more of a threat with high intensity to stop Cranbrook's long ball Ilminster's solid start paid off and a lovely move from the Illy boys saw Kamil Wilk strike home for his 8th of the season 1-0.

Cranbrook attempted to get back into the game and started to get more comfortable on the ball but a shuffle in the Ilminster back line comfortably dealt with any danger Cranbrook had to offer.

Ilminster looking dangerous going forward and good work from Steve Rodber moving down the wing from RB grabbed an assist as Cranbrook scored an OG to make it 2-0 to the hosts.

With frustrations setting in at Cranbrook a number of rash challenges went un punished from the Official but Ilminster stood toe to toe and refused to be bullied, Brothers and wingers for the day Olavo & Flavio Ribeiro took most of the damage from the rough style but bounced back and had excellent games.

HT 2-0.

No half time changes seemed to work as Ilminster started the second half mirror imagining the first dominating possession and creating a number of very clear cut chances and although the better side, Ilminster needed the 3rd to kill the game although Cranbrook now pushing forward didn't want to read the Ilminster script and scored to make it 2-1.

The hard work, determination and quality of Ilminster prevailed as Ilminster saw out the game to win 2-1 and leap frog Cranbrook into 2nd position in the league.

One of the best performances of the season, well done to all involved and on another day could of been 6/7/8-1.
