Wellington Ladies 0 - 19 Ilminster Ladies
This weekend saw Ilminster travel to Wellington in the second round of the women's junior county cup. With no Reserve team game on Ilminster went into the game with all players available blessing them with a strong squad.
Ilminster started the more brighter of the two teams, playing some brilliant passing and moving football from the back right through to the front, they created plenty of chances however they could not convert keeping the score at a frustrating 0-0.
Ilminsters sheer persistence paid off when Dee Cracknell broke the deadlock giving Ilminster the 1-0 lead. This proved to be the turning point in the game resulting in the goals starting to flow, resulting in Ilminster 8-0 up at half time.
The second half saw Ilminster come out with again more determination to see the game through and seal their place in the next round.
Now going down hill Ilminster made sure they took their chances where they could. Through hard work from all the girls across the pitch the goals kept rolling and adding to the overall tally.
This saw the game finish with an incredible score line of 19 goals and 7 different scorers, to see Ilminster run out the winners and progress through to the next round.
However to Wellingtons credit they kept going with a good spirit throughout their team.
