Depleted Blues grab 3 points !

Ilminster found themselves travelling to Mendip this Sunday with a bare squad of 10 players. This didn't seem to faze Ilminster who went out with a great team spirit and game plan.

Ilminsters first goal came when Dee Cracknell made a brilliant run down the wing to set up Alice Charlton who finished with some ease. Moments later Charlton doubled her tally with another well taken goal.

Ilminster however took their eye off the ball for a second allowing Mendip to get a goal. Ilminster though continued to press and stick with their own game plan. After slowing the game back down Ilminster found a 3rd goal coming from Chelsea Board who made a run from the defense to release a fantastic strike outside the box over the keeper.

Alice Charlton then got her hat trick allowing Ilminster to have a 4-1 lead at half time and a worthy break for the players to get their energy levels back up.

The second half saw Ilminster come out again with determination to see it through resulting in Lesley Spearing adding her name to the tally with a well taken goal from down the wing and slotting straight past the keeper. Mendip were then awarded a penalty for what appeared to be a shove within the box, Although Keeper Abbi Bonds got her hands to the ball it could not stop it hitting the net taking the score to 5-2.

This however did not worry Ilminster and when Chelsea Board played a perfect ball through Mendips defense allowing Dee Cracknell to get on the end of and after rounding the keeper she slotted the ball home very comfortably.

With 5 minutes left to play Ilminster were tiring, resulting in Mendip getting a 3rd goal to see the game out at 6-3. Ilminster though would not allow the lead to slip anymore and after putting everything they had into the game left with 3 points after a brilliant 6-3 win.

A big well done to all the girls who played for putting a 100% in right to the end.

Man of the Match went to Tia Shoemark for a brilliant performance in right back.

Pamela the show doll went to Chelsea Board for a fantastic strike giving Ilminster their 3rd goal.
