Penmill Ladies Reserves 0 v 5 Ilminster Ladies Reserves

An interesting clash today away to Penmill Reserves that had a lot of action.

As the game commenced both teams where wokring each other out and there was a lot of action in the midfield areas as players tried to settle into the game.

It wasn't long before Ilminster began to create attacking chances despite Penmills decent efforts which kept our defensive line on their toes.

An attack from Penmill saw the ball cut out by Megan Arldige, who played a great ball through & past two on rushing players out of defence as calmly as you like straight to Rachel's feet who then turned and played another great through ball for Samantha Caddy, back today after a short absence. Sammy was through 1 on 1 and there was absolutely no doubt of the outcome, a very calm and accomplished finish into the bottom left of the goal past the on rushing keeper. (0-1)

That has helped to settle the nerves abit, and they have started off perfectly, just as the manager has asked of them.

A slight tactical change, sees Ilminster assert some dominance on the game. 25 mins in the ever impressive Jess Mansfield sends in a superb cross which Sammy controls in the box and plays it to Lucy, who lobs the keeper with a good finish. (0-2)

Second half, the girls are still buzzing and start off once again very strong. Just two minutes in Rachel bravely battles for a ball and heads it forward to Jess Humphrey who has stayed onside. She's running through on goal with defenders busting a gut to close her down. 1 on 1 she places the ball bottom left another calm finish under pressure. (0-3)

Penmill are trying to force there way back into it and our defence is working hard Megan Arlidge is having a great game, the defence just cannot break through her.

65 minutes Kath Parsons at right back plays a lovely ball across the pitch into the stride of Lucy who takes possession and scores her second goal of the game her finishing continues to impress. (0-4)

Some changes with subs sees Sammy moved to left midfield and Chelsea on up front. This yields immediate results with Sammy driving forward evading a couple of defenders and breaking through to square it to Chelsea supporting the move who finishes it off no problem. (0-5)

Another good game for Ilminster today and that makes it five wins in a row now, an excellent run of form.

Man of the Match: Megan Arlidge - superb determination, great physical strength at the back to shrug off the threats. And superb challenges to win the ball.
