Tough game for the blues!

Another tough fixture as Ilminster Ladies travel away for the fourth time running, this time facing the league leaders.

A much improved performance all round today after last weeks poor display.

The ladies knew it would be a tough game today with Portishead having already scored 58 goals in 7 games.

They met the challenge head on, with Amy North making an impressive display in an unfamiliar defensive role today to provide some pace to the back line.

Missing keeper Lorraine today, the versatile Kathryn Parsons donned the gloves and marshalled the Ilminster goal. Pulling off some fantastic saves that even had the opposition supporters applauding.

Christine Smith wearing the captains armband today in the absence of skipper Shell, helped keep the back line organised.

Although there were a few errors in the game which contributed to some of the goals, some of the goals were also very good finishes from the home team.

Players listened well, and continue to grow, learn and improve. Overall despite the scoreline the manager was very pleased with the performance & attitude of the players.

Again some really good determined efforts, which included Jess Mansfield who was struggling with ‘illness’ who put in another reliable shift. Players coming off the bench filled in well and also did a shift.

The score line in truth didn’t really do the Ilminster Ladies justice which the opposition manager stated himself.

A fantastic determined effort at the back, surely prevented several potential goals from the opposition.
