Stockwood Green 0-0 Ilminster Town Firsts

A point a piece always looked the likely result before this match between Stockwood Green and Ilminster Town, in fact Stockwood have drawn 7 of their 9 matches before Saturday, and with the Blues also hard to beat away from home with 5 draws from 7 away games, most were predicting stalemate.

Stockwood started brightly and had a great early chance when their forward  headed over from close range when it looked easier to score.

During the first half Both sides had good periods of possession but lacked quality in the final pass to open up their opponents.

The second period was much the same with both sides cancelling each other out, Charlie Rutter proved to be a handful all afternoon and when he challenged the Stockwood custodian, the ball dropped invitingly but nobody was on hand to tap home.

Chris May saved a shot in the last 10 mins, but it certainly a match where both defences came out on top.

A 0-0 draw was a fair result, with Ilminster as the away team being the happier with another point on their travels.
