Somerset FA Premier Cup
Ilminster Town 0 Bridgwater United 2
High-flying Bridgwater United showed their class with two goals midway through the first half, as Sam Beresford and Doug Camilo struck during a devastating four-minute spell to knock Ilminster Town out of the Somerset Premier Cup.
The Blues did give a good account of themselves with Josh Phillips having the first chance of the match as he raced through only for Keeper Liam Kingston in goal to pull off a fantastic save low down.
Shay Allen saved well from Haydan Chambers to keep the score at 0-0 after the visitors created their first opportunity.
Then with a change of pace followed the two goals and Bridgwater looked comfortable as they knocked the ball around with confidence.
The game became more even towards the end of the first half and into the start of the second, with Bridgwater playing in second gear. The Blues’ substitutes made an impact, particularly Marky Jones and Lewis Trusson, who both caused problems for the Bridgwater back line and created half-chances.
Bridgwater though used all their experience to see the game out to progress to the next round.
