Ilminster Town remain unbeaten in the SWPL since the turn of the year!

Ilminster Town remain unbeaten in the South West Peninsula League since the turn of the year, they were not at their best despite having the chances to have taken all three points. A spongy pitch and a midweek match sapped the team's energy, and without playmaker Braeden Symes from the 25th minute their performance suffered.

The first half saw both sides cancel each other out, Josh Phillips had an early chance that he put wide, while the visitors worked hard with their left winger causing a few problems. Taylor Jefferson who replaced Symes made a great run and rounded the keeper early in the second half with the angle against him he was just wide with his effort on goal.

Meanwhile at the other end Flynn Smith done brilliantly to get behind on the goal line to kick one off the line. The first notable moment of quality in the match occurred when Jack Steer provided an assist to Josh Phillips, who accurately placed the ball into the bottom corner. This
marked Phillips'; tenth goal of the season, putting his team ahead 1-0.

Teignmouth, despite being fourth from the bottom, played well enough to deserve a goal. A well-delivered cross from the left was met with a strong volley to equalise at 1-1.

The Blues had a couple chances to win the match as the clock clicked down, substitutes Jordy Lovibond and Evan Howse combined well with Lovibond making a powerful run down the right beating his man and crossing for Howse who could not generate enough power with his shot to beat the keeper.

Finally in overtime Ed Butcher from wide on the left saw his cross/shot hit the top of the cross bar as the luck evaded the team and they had to settle for a point.

The side were certainly not at their best, Flynn Smith who was full of energy and made that fine save off the line was player of the match.
