Manager Paddy Behan stated in his programme notes for the Honiton match. “They will present a different type of challenge than Middlezoy. We had two very tough and physical matches against them last season so we will have to be ready for whatever they bring.”

This was certainly the case as his side dug out a hard thought win with a 71 st minute goal by Jack Steer .

It could and should have been much easier as a host of first half chances were missed. Honiton enjoyed good spells where they were the
better team 20 minutes before and 20 minutes after half time.

Ilminster then showed their class, regaining control through composed passing and creating several half-chances. Their reward came in the 71 st minute, when Marky Jones combined with Josh Phillips, whose perfectly weighted pass released Jack Steer. Although Steer did not connect cleanly, his shot went in off the post.

The Ilminster back four were all fantastic with Harry Manley taking the player of the match reward. Harvey Saunders was majestic in a defensive mid field roll as the team saw out the last twenty minutes of the match, back-to-back home wins gives the team a superb start to the season.
