Reserves Seal Promotion in Govier's First Season

An outstanding Renato Silva 40 yard goal was the highlight of the day as Ilminster had to come from behind to earn a point.

With the current league standings a win for Ilminster would of set up a league title winning game next week against Exmouth Spartans however it wasn't to be with Ilminster starting poorly against the wind with the visitors taking the lead.

Ilminster welcomed two half time substitutes as Renato Silva & Flavio Ribeiro entered the game to try and get a grip of the play, the half time changes seemed to have the desired affect and the passing and possession game Ilminster have been use to all season returned and the hosts piled on the pressure but things took a turn for the worse as Ilminster went a man down from a straight red.

The 10 men of Ilminster didn't stop the onslaught but couldn't seem to find the back of the net until the last 8 minutes as Silva scored a fantastic 40 yard lob over the Cheriton no.1

Ilminster continued to push for the winner but a resilient Cheriton held on to end the game 1-1.

Ilminster now must win their remaining two league games (Exmouth Spartans & Seaton Town) in order to clinch the title.
