Colt's first game ends in heavy loss

The colts arrived at Dogshit Park ready for a tough game and it turned out to be just that.

Captain pirate (Steve Garland) won the toss and had the colts going up the slope first half. We started off slow and spent the majority of the first half defending against the speedy Chard United forwards.

We were doing well and held the game at 0-0 until the 25 minute mark , but Chard broke through and finished to take them 1 -0. Pirate kept us in the game with some great saves not really sure if he knew much about it but we were still in the game.

As the half time approached the constant pressure applied by Chard showed and they quickly fired in a couple of goals before half time leaving us with a battle for the second half.

We started the second half brightly and our passing game started to break through at last. We started to push forward and force chard back into there own half but as we pushed to try and close the 3-0 margin Chard made use of their pace and played some great counter attacking football which caught us out and we slipped to 5-0 down with only 25 minutes left to play.

A credit to the colts was that they never gave up and kept pushing for a goal even though we knew that chards counter attacking pace could hurt us more and it did with the help of Honey (Chris May) putting one into his own net.

Chard scored a further 2 goals both from counter attacks and finished them both well.

All in all the colts worked hard for 90 minutes against a team that outplayed us all over the pitch. The team spirit showed will definitely do us well for the rest of the season.
