Colts finally get a victory

We knew this was going to be a tight game that we needed to win and the lads made every effort to ensure we came away with the 3 points.

Things started well and we were giving Crewkerne reserves a run for their money. Going up the slope first we new that it was going to be a hard half and the lads put everything into it and we finally got a break thorough when Joe Draper was put through for a one on one and he slotted home to give the colts a one nil lead.

Crewkerne started to up their game and with Joe draper carrying an injury in midfield tom bond had to do the job of two players and the Crewkerne midfield were making us work hard to keep our early lead.

Halftime came and we had a one nil lead. Colts 1-0 Crewkerne reserves
We made a change at half time as Joe draper could not continue so rich Wilmot came on to help out tom bond in midfield. Crewkerne started the second half very well and put us under the cosh from the start and there hard work paid off as they equalised within the first ten minutes of the half.

The colts with their never give up attitude turned the match around and piled on the pressure as our link up play between the midfield and forwards started to pay off. We finally got the lead after a corner where Liam Doble powered the ball into the Crewkerne net putting us in front again.

Our defence was solid throughout the half and never really let Crewkerne get a clean chance. The only real chance they had was when a suspect pass back was given and Crewkerne had an indirect free kick from 10 yards out. This free kick was brilliantly saved by pirate (Steve Garland).

Looking to hold on to the narrow lead with only 15 minutes to go the gaffer made a tactical change and replaced Tommy Wallis to put himself in a holding midfield role this proved very productive and within minutes we started creating more chances and a great through ball from the gaffer (Darren Paul) saw Liam Ryall score from around 20-25 yards out to put us 3-1 up.

We started defending deep knowing we had less then 5 minutes to play and Crewkerne took advantage of this and earned themselves a corner. With some poor marking a Crewkerne player found himself a free header to score and make it 3-2 but with only a couple of minutes left the colts played down the clock and earned their first 3 points of the season.

Colts 3 - 2 Crewkerne Reserves

Nobody really deserved Donkey of the Day this week but the lads felt Pirate (Steve Garland) did enough to keep it for 3 weeks running!
