Colts lose to well organised Thorncombe

Colts went into this fixture knowing it was going to be a hard game as Thorncombe are one of the early favpourites to win the league and it showed.

We started well and were keeping a really good shape not really letting thorncombe create many chances. Things took a turn for the worse as the thorncombe strikers settled into their game and started creating a few chances with lots of good running off the ball by the young thorncombe striker Harry which caused our defence to lose its shape.

Thorncombe then started to overrun us in the middle of the park and quickly scored a couple of goals to put them 2 -0 up. We kept battling hard but we were not really testing the thorncombe keeper and we were just doing well to keep the score line down.

Things started badly early in the second half as thorncombe started well and quickly scored a couple of goals inside 5 minutes. Ilminster heads had now dropped and it was hard work for the rest of the game trying to compete with the thorncombe movement. We continued to battle hard but we never really troubled the thorncombe defence and thorncombe scored another 2 goals.

All in all it was a bad day for the colts and we all knew that not one of us had played well today. This week we host Dowlish & Donyatt on the back pitch.
