Colts pick up valuable win on the road after a few tough weeks in league and cup.

The Colts travelled to Uplyme on the back of 4 straight defeats and without the central midfield pairing of Jake Woodard (injured) and Josh Jackson (unavailable), this allowed Paul Hardy and Charlie Male to form a solid pairing with a mix of youth and experience.
Charlie Berrington returned to the side after a number of weeks out and Danny Wiseman returned to the starting line up as the Colts opted for the 4-4-2 formation that impressed in the second half of the Merriott defeat the previous week.
Starting line-up was therefore, Ben Kingman continuing in goal, with an unchanged back four of Andy Moore (RB), Dave Lock (LB) and the experienced pairing of Darren Manley and Wayne Lewis (C) at centre half. The midfield was formed with Charlie Berrington on the right and Danny Wiseman on the left and the above mentione partnership of Charlie Male and Paul Hardy in the middle. Kaymon Lisney started up front with recent signing Jack Dawkins.
After a late withdrawal from AJ Carvell, Liam Doble and Dan Haines were the only subs.
The Colts started the game brightly with a good high pressing line and a solid, no-nonsense approach at the back, the Uplyme defence were uneasy from the off with the pace of the Ilminster attacking quartet with Charlie Berrington making a number of successful runs into the box and to the by-line, as a result Ilminster created a number of good chances, including a header for Wayne Lewis that was put just over the bar.
The youth of Ilminster were causing problems for the Uplyme defence with the famous ball boy needing to retrieve a number of panicked clearances from surrounding ditches, despite all this youthful dominance, it fell to the evergreen Paul Hardy to open the scoring with a 40 yard lob over the keepers head, a brilliant finish and no more than Colts deserved.
The rest of the half saw chances at either end with one brilliant save by Ben Kingman to keep Ilminster in the lead at half time.
The second half saw Ilminster defending the hill and with it the pressure on the back four was increased, and this lead to an equalising goal when the Uplyme striker went around the outside of Andy Moore, who was instructed to “show him outside”, only for him to fire in a thunderbolt off his left foot.
With the score at 1-1 the Colts kept their heads up and continued to look secure at the back and creative going forward, with the clock ticking down, Kaymon Lisney managed to regain Ilminsters lead with his 8th goal in 9 games this season (14th in 15 including friendlies), it cam after brilliant work from Charlie Berrington down the right-hand side with the Uplyme defence once again left in awe at his pace and speed of feet and thought.
The end of the game saw more Uplyme pressure but the Colts defence, aided by some excellent goal keeping, held on for the win. An injury to captain Wayne Lewis meant a change over to Liam Doble who impressed at centre half, after impressing up front last week, we wish Wayne a speedy recovery, particularly as it takes a little longer to get over injuries when “experienced”.
A well deserved 3 points on the road, at a ground where teams will struggle this season, and a good turn around after a couple of tough weeks. Man of the match was given to Ben Kingman with Dan Haines collecting donkey of the day.
