On Saturday, the club made impressive progress when Ilminster Town Reserves won the Perry Street & District Premier League title. This achievement ensures their promotion to senior football in Somerset County League Division 3.

Ilminster needed just a draw in their final away game against reigning champions Misterton to clinch the title. In an exciting start to the match,
Ilminster scored first when a long throw created chaos in the box; Ben Pitman headed the ball towards goal, which then deflected off a Misterton player and resulted in an own goal.

Ilminster controlled the rest of the half. In the second half the home side equalised early on before adding a second to lead 2-1.

The Blues gave their all as they looked for the goal that would win them title, time and time again ex Ilminster players Josh Parsons and Jonny Manley in central defence cleared the danger as the match went into added time.

A throw in was won level with the six yard box with time nearly up, Lewis Trusson launched a long throw into the box Misterton keeper Owen Male could not gather in a packed goal mouth, Ilminster keeper Jack Rutter who had ventured forward picked up the loose ball shifted it side ways before getting his shot away, it was blocked with the rebound falling to Ben Pitman who volleyed the ball into the back of the net to start the celebrations.

Matt Rowswell alongside his assistants Callum Preston and Andy Moore can feel very proud of their team who only lost once in the League,
securing the Perry Street & District Premier League for the first time for the Reserves since Gary Bealey won the title back in 2002/03 season,
more importantly though with promotion to senior football the Reserves will be able to support the first team more.

With the club also introducing an under 18 team the future looks bright for the club going forward.
